Established vaping organization is seeking an experienced Buyer in Carlsbad, CA (San Diego, CA). This is a full time career opportunity for a motivated, dedicated, and thorough Buyer. Must have experience in buying of high volume products. Knowledge or experience in shipping methods, cost saving strategies, importing of products would be helpful.

The Buyer’s main responsibilities are identifying and procuring product, arranging delivery, maintaining an optimum level of inventory and negotiating with vendors on pricing and payment options. The Buyer also implements cost management techniques, analyzes the impact of pricing changes for goods while building relationships with vendors. The normal shift is 40 hours per week in the office.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops existing vendor relationships and seek new vendors, negotiate price and payment terms with vendors and ensure vendor compliance with the company’s purchase requirements.
• Monitor designated products sell-through, inventory level and analyze trends for products requisitions.
• Review products, interview vendors, request price quotes and make purchase recommendations for new products.
• Set up new products, new vendors and update cost and import duty information in system.
• Create purchase orders and manage the orders from execution to delivery, including any back stock or miss- shipped change requirements.
• Verify and approve Performa invoices for payment and request all necessary documents for importing and shipping, e.g. commercial invoice and packing list.
• Maintain and update orders shipping status/tracking file and provide delivery updates to Management and Sales.
• Resolve production, shipping and receiving issues with vendors and warehouse.
• Identify cost saving opportunities to reduce total cost of goods sold and drive overall growth and profitability.
• Determine optimal shipping method for orders and coordinate with vendors and freight forwarders for shipping.
• Review inventory level and propose solutions for minimizing financial impact on excessive and slowing moving items. Update items status in system as changes are approved by Management.
• Perform cost analyses and other projects related to optimizing the supply chain.
• Special Projects and other duties as assigned.

 KEY SKILLS AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred, or equivalent experience and training that provides required knowledge, skills and abilities.
 
• 2+ years of purchasing, demand planning, logistics preferably in e-commerce and wholesale industry, preferred.
• International vendor experience, preferred.
• Proven ability to deliver results in supplier selection, management, negotiation, planning and risk management.
• Strong statistical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and solve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusion.
• Attention to details is a necessity.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to display supportive behavior and communicate positively to both internal and external customers.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with MS office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint. Advanced Excel skills required.
• Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations.
